Description
4×5.65 +1/2 Diopter Brilliant² Tray Mount Close-Up Lens
– The 4″x5.65″ +1/2 Diopter Brilliant² Tray Mount Close-Up Lens fits directly into 4″x5.65″ matte boxes, occupying 1 slot in the matte box.
A close-up lens with a strength of +1/2 diopter is used to focus closer on a slightly smaller object field, when the cine lens being used won’t focus that closely.
To create the Brilliant² Tray Mount Close-Up Lens series we’ve mounted our 138mm Close-Up Lenses (Diopters) in a 4″x5.65″ matte box tray. These large 138mm round lenses provide a 5.1″ diameter clear aperture in the tray, allowing use with large lenses and wide angle lenses. All of our lenses have a broadband multi-layer anti-reflection coating (MC Coating).
The unique tray mount design allows quick and easy changes of close-up lenses in both clip-on and rod mount matte boxes.
The Brilliant2 diopters fit in Arri™, Bright Tangerine™, Chrosziel™, Vocas™ and other professional 4×5.65 cine matte boxes. They do not work with RedRock Micro™ matte boxes.
🔍 Optical Overview & Close-Focus Performance
The Lindsey Optics 4×5.65″ Brilliant² Tray Diopter +1/2 slides directly into a standard 4×5.65″ matte box stage, allowing cinema prime and zoom lenses to focus significantly closer than their native Minimum Object Distance (MOD) with zero T-stop light loss. Mounted in a precision CNC-machined aluminum frame with broadband anti-reflective coatings, it eliminates the need for clamping rings or step-down adapters.
- +1/2 Diopter (+0.5D): Shifts the lens’s far focus (∞) to 200cm (2.0m) in front of the glass—ideal for tight medium close-ups and overcoming anamorphic close-focus limits.
- +1 Diopter (+1.0D): Shifts the lens’s far focus (∞) to 100cm (1.0m) in front of the glass—ideal for Choker close-ups and tabletop details.
- +2 Diopter (+2.0D): Shifts the lens’s far focus (∞) to 50cm (0.5m) in front of the glass—ideal for extreme macro inserts.
